How online therapy works

Therapy, without the drive

A real session with a licensed therapist over secure video. Same therapist, same hour, same depth of care. Virtual therapy is not our backup plan — for most of our practice, it is the plan.

1

Your therapist sends a link

Secure and HIPAA-compliant. Nothing to install, no learning curve.

2

You click it when it is time

From home, your car on a lunch break, anywhere with a little privacy.

3

You talk

If you can make a video call, you can do this. If video is not for you, a phone call works the same way.

The people you would see

Every one of them is available to you

Our offices are in the Phoenix metro, but every one of our therapists works by video, and by phone if you would rather, anywhere in the state. Choose by fit, not by which office is closest.

Who online therapy suits

When virtual therapy makes sense

You live far from an office

Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma, Prescott, or a town with no therapist for a hundred miles. No drive, no metro-only limits.

Getting out is hard

Chronic illness, a new baby, no childcare, mobility limits. Therapy comes to your couch.

Your schedule is full

A lunch break, a quiet hour between meetings. No commute means therapy fits where it can.

In person feels like a lot

No waiting room, no lobby. For social anxiety, a virtual session can make starting easier.

You want a specific therapist

Choose your person by fit, not by which office is closest to you.

Life keeps moving

Traveling, home sick, back at school. Your online sessions come with you, anywhere in the state.

What we treat online

Everything we do in the office, we do online

Individuals, couples, teens, and more. Explore a focus area, or let us match you.

Online therapy FAQ

Common online therapy questions, answered

Is online therapy as effective as in person?
For most concerns, the research says it is. A 2021 review pooled 47 controlled studies and found no meaningful difference in outcomes between therapy by video and therapy in person, with the strongest results for anxiety and depression. And in our own practice, most clients choose telehealth and do the real work of therapy on screen.
Can I do therapy over the phone instead of video?
Yes. A phone session is a real session, with the same therapist and the same hour, covered the same as an in-person visit. Tell your therapist you would rather talk than be on camera.
Do I have to see a therapist near me?
No. Every therapist here works with clients anywhere in Arizona. Choose your person by fit, not by which office is closest to you. The nearest office only matters if you want to come in.
Can I see one of your therapists if I do not live near Phoenix?
Yes. Our offices are in the Phoenix metro, and we do not have one anywhere else — but you do not need us to. Every therapist here is licensed for the whole state and works by video, so Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma, Prescott, Lake Havasu City, Sierra Vista, Bullhead City, Casa Grande, or a town far smaller than any of those all work the same way. If you are in Arizona, you are in range.
Do I have to be in Arizona for virtual therapy?
Yes. You need to be physically located in Arizona during your telehealth session. That is a licensing rule, so wherever you are in the state, you are covered. It is where you are during the session that matters, not where you live.
Does insurance cover telehealth counseling?
Yes, in most cases. Insurers treat an online session the same as an office visit, so your copay and deductible work exactly as they would in person, and nothing extra is billed for meeting by video. We check your benefits for free before your first session. See insurance and fees for the plans we take and our self-pay rates.
Is online counseling private and secure?
Yes. We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform, and your virtual sessions are as confidential as they would be in the office. All you need is a private spot where you feel comfortable talking.
What do I need for an online therapy session?
A phone, tablet, or computer, a decent internet connection, and a private space. A camera if you want to be on video, though you do not have to be. Your therapist sends a secure link, and you click it when it is time.
What if my internet drops in the middle of a session?
Your therapist calls you and you finish on the phone. It happens, it is not a problem, and you do not lose the session.
What if I do not have somewhere private to talk?
A parked car works. So does a walk with headphones. Your therapist has heard every version of this and can help you find something that works for your week.
Can I mix telehealth and in-person visits?
Yes, and many clients do. Some weeks the office makes sense, other weeks the couch does. You and your therapist decide as you go.
