The tears you can't explain, the intrusive thoughts that scare you, the bond that hasn't clicked the way you expected. This is common, it's treatable, and it is not your fault.

How we help
Our therapists support parents through pregnancy and the year after birth, using approaches with strong research behind them, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy (IPT) for perinatal anxiety and depression, and EMDR when birth or loss was traumatic. Perinatal mental health is its own area, distinct from ordinary stress, and we treat it that way. Partners are welcome, and we coordinate with OBs and prescribers when helpful.

Understanding perinatal mental health
The arrival of a baby is sold as pure joy, so it can be disorienting when what you feel is anxiety, sadness, numbness, or thoughts that frighten you. Perinatal mood and anxiety conditions are among the most common complications of pregnancy and birth, affecting many parents, and they are driven by a mix of hormones, sleep loss, and enormous change, not by any failing on your part.
This is not something to just push through, and it is not your fault. Perinatal mental health conditions respond very well to treatment, and reaching out is one of the most caring things you can do for yourself and your baby.
