Cost & insurance

How much does therapy cost without insurance?

Self-pay rates are set by your therapist's license level, starting at $50 per session with a graduate intern ($75 for the first intake session). Full rates are on our Insurance & Fees page. Share your budget when you reach out and we'll factor it into your match; after the intake, every session is one flat rate.

Does insurance cover therapy in Arizona?

Often, yes. We're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare/Optum. Every plan is different: insurance works like a coupon, and some plans have a copay while others have a deductible to meet first. Knowing your benefits helps, and as a courtesy we do our best to verify your coverage before your first session. Our cost estimator gives you a rough number in about a minute.

What if I don't see my insurance listed?

Reach out anyway. Plans change, and if you have out-of-network benefits, we're happy to provide a monthly superbill you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Our care team will lay out your options in one quick conversation.

Do you accept AHCCCS or Medicaid?

Not at this time. We're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare/Optum, and our self-pay rates start at $50 per session with a graduate intern.

Do you accept Medicare?

Not Original Medicare. We are in-network with a limited number of Medicare Advantage plans, so it comes down to the specific plan you carry. Tell our care team which plan you have when you reach out and we'll check it before you book anything.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Tell us at least 24 hours ahead and there's no charge, so your therapist can offer the time to someone else. A missed session, or a cancellation inside 24 hours, is $50 with a graduate intern and $100 with an associate or independently licensed therapist. Every rate is listed on our Insurance & Fees page.

Getting started

How do I get started?

Fill out the 1-minute form, or text or call 602-698-5777. Our care team usually reaches out the same business day (first thing next morning if it's late), matches you with a therapist who fits, and gets your first session on the calendar.

How soon can I be seen?

Usually within a couple of days. All five of our offices and our telehealth team are accepting new clients, and most people are on a therapist's calendar within about two days of reaching out, sometimes the next day. Reach out and we'll tell you what's actually open this week.

How do you match me with a therapist?

Tell us what's going on, your insurance, and your schedule; our care team knows every therapist's focus areas and style, and pairs you with your best fit. Prefer to explore first? Browse the team or try our online matching tool, then send the form when you're ready.

What happens in a first session?

Mostly talking, at your pace. Your therapist asks what brings you in and what you want out of therapy, answers your questions, and starts building a plan together. No tests, no couch requirement. The only step that takes courage is the first one, and that's a 1-minute form.

Can I switch therapists if it isn't a fit?

Yes, and it's normal. Tell our care team and we'll rematch you, no awkward conversation required. The fit matters to us as much as it does to you.

How do I know if I need therapy?

If something has been weighing on you for a few weeks, or it's starting to touch your sleep, work, or relationships, that's reason enough. You don't need a crisis or a diagnosis to start; most people come in for everyday struggles that stopped being manageable alone.

Who we work with

What do you help with?

Anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, grief and loss, couples and relationships, life transitions, eating disorders, perinatal and postpartum, and faith transitions, for kids from age 5 through adults. We're an LGBTQIA+ affirming practice, and our therapists work in approaches including CBT, DBT, and EMDR. See how we help for the full list.

Do you offer couples counseling?

Yes. Select therapists on our team work with couples, and our care team will match you when you reach out. Insurance coverage for couples work depends on your plan, and we check that for you up front. Send the form and mention it's for the two of you.

Do you see kids and teens?

Yes, ages 5 to 17, plus their parents when it helps. Several of our therapists focus on children, teens, and families, and our care team will pair your child with the one who fits.

Do you prescribe medication?

Not in our practice. Our clinicians diagnose and treat through therapy, and when medication might help, we coordinate with trusted psychiatric providers, and your therapist stays part of the conversation.

What's the difference between a therapist, a psychologist, and a psychiatrist?

Therapists, like our LPCs and LCSWs, provide talk therapy and can assess and diagnose. Psychologists hold a doctorate and can also provide formal psychological testing. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who manage medication. Most people start with a therapist, and we coordinate with prescribers when medication might help.

Sessions & logistics

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, secure video sessions for clients located in Arizona. Same therapists, same care, and for many concerns research shows results comparable to in-person; your therapist will tell you honestly if meeting in person would serve you better. Send the form and tell us you prefer online; we'll set you up from there.

Where are your offices?

Five across the Valley: three in Phoenix, one in Mesa, and one in Scottsdale, plus secure telehealth anywhere in Arizona. Every visit is by appointment. See all locations for addresses and the therapists who work at each one.

When are you open?

Our office team is available every day from 9am to 5pm. Sessions are by appointment, and many therapists offer early, evening, and weekend times. Tell us what works for you and we'll match you with someone who fits your schedule.

How long does therapy take?

Sessions run about 60 minutes, and most people start weekly or every other week. How long you stay is up to you, at your pace and on your schedule. Some people come for a season, to get through something specific. Others stay longer because the relationship keeps paying off. You review progress together as you go, and there's no contract and no minimum.

Can I contact my therapist between sessions?

Yes. Our secure client portal includes HIPAA-compliant messaging straight to your therapist. For scheduling or billing, our office team answers every day, 9am to 5pm. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 right away.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is protected by HIPAA, Arizona law, and every therapist's professional license and ethics code, and your records are released only with your written consent. Like every licensed practice, therapists are required by law to act on specific safety concerns, such as risk of serious harm or abuse. Your therapist explains exactly how confidentiality works, including for minors, at your first session.
