How we help
Our therapists provide affirming, LGBTQ-friendly care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, nonbinary, queer, and questioning clients. In practice that means we ask your pronouns and the name you go by and we use them, our intake gives you room to describe your identity in your own words, and you won't have to educate your therapist to be understood. Affirming does not mean we assume every struggle is about identity. It means you can bring your whole self, including the ordinary stuff of life, and use approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), ACT, and EMDR for whatever brought you in, from minority stress to anything else.

Understanding affirming care
LGBTQIA+ people carry the same range of concerns as anyone, plus the extra weight of minority stress, the ongoing strain of navigating rejection, discrimination, or having to stay guarded. That weight is real, and it can show up as anxiety, depression, or trauma. It is not a flaw in you; it is a response to an environment that is not always safe.
Affirming therapy starts from acceptance, so no energy goes into justifying who you are. From there, you and your therapist can work on whatever brought you in, using approaches with strong research behind them, in a space built to be safe.
