Faith Transition Therapy in Phoenix and Mesa, Arizona

You Are Allowed to Question. You Are Allowed to Change.

Leaving a faith community, questioning beliefs you were raised with, or stepping away from a religion that once defined everything about your life is one of the most disorienting experiences a person can go through. It's not just about theology. It's about identity, family, community, belonging, and the loss of a framework that once made the world make sense.

You may be grieving relationships that have changed or ended. You may be carrying shame, guilt, or anger that you're not sure what to do with. You may feel relief and loss at the same time, which can be its own kind of confusing. Whatever you're feeling right now, it makes complete sense given what you've been through.

Kenny Allred is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in faith transitions, religious trauma, and spiritual deconstruction. He understands the specific landscape of leaving high-demand religious environments and brings a trauma-informed, deeply compassionate approach to this work. You don't have to explain the background. He already understands it.

Ready to Talk to Someone Who Gets It?

Kenny is currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth sessions. Our care team will reach out within one business day.

Faith Transition Therapist in Phoenix and Mesa, Arizona

Kenny Allred, LMFT — faith transition therapist, Phoenix AZ

Meet Kenny Allred, LMFT

Kenny has deep familiarity with the specific experience of questioning or leaving The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many people in the East Valley of Phoenix, an LDS faith transition isn't just a change in belief. It touches every part of life including family relationships, friendships, marriage, identity, and daily routine. Kenny understands the specific theology, culture, and family dynamics involved, and works with clients across the full spectrum of LDS experience.

Whether you are in the early stages of a faith crisis, quietly questioning beliefs you've held your whole life, navigating a mixed-faith marriage, processing the grief of leaving the LDS church, or working through post-Mormon identity questions, Kenny provides a safe and judgment-free space to explore all of it. He is also experienced in supporting individuals leaving other high-demand religious environments, those healing from spiritual abuse, and anyone navigating a Christian faith transition or spiritual deconstruction of any kind.

You don't have to have it figured out before you reach out. Wherever you are in the process, Kenny meets you there.

Making It Easy to Take the First Step

Here's Exactly What Happens When You Reach Out

We know that reaching out for support during a faith transition can feel complicated, especially if you've been in a community where seeking outside help was discouraged. So here is exactly what happens when you contact us, with no unknowns and no surprises.

You send us a message or give us a call. Someone from our care coordination team, a real person and not an automated system, will follow up within one business day. They'll have a brief conversation with you about what you're experiencing and what you're hoping for. From there, they'll connect you directly with Kenny, who is currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth sessions.

In-person faith transition therapy is available at our offices in Phoenix and Mesa, by appointment only to protect your privacy. Telehealth is available to clients anywhere in Arizona including Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott, and Yuma, which is particularly helpful for those who may want additional privacy or live outside the Phoenix metro area.

We accept Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, and BCBS. Not sure if your plan covers therapy? Reach out and we'll verify your benefits before your first appointment. And if you'd like to meet Kenny before committing to a full session, just ask. A free 15-minute consultation is available upon request.

Kenny is here to walk alongside you through this, with no judgment, no agenda, and no pressure to land anywhere specific. Just a safe, honest space to process what you've been through and begin building what comes next.
