Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
EMDR therapy is a phased, focused approach to treating trauma and other symptoms by reconnecting the traumatized person in a safe and measured way to the images, self-thoughts, emotions, and body sensations associated with the trauma, and allowing the natural healing powers of the brain to move toward adaptive resolution. EMDR works because the “bilateral stimulation” bypasses the area of the brain that processes memories and has become stuck due to the trauma. When a difficult/traumatizing memory is stuck, it prevents the brain from properly processing and storing the memory.
Psychotherapy can be a useful tool in the treatment of eating disorders as it can teach you how to choose healthy habits over unhealthy ones. We can also help you learn how to watch your eating habits for patterns and to see how these eating patterns may correlate to your moods. We aim to modify distorted beliefs and attitudes about the meaning of weight, shape, and appearance, which are correlated to the development and maintenance of the eating disorder.
Horses are healing animals who can bring about change in a person with little effort.
So what is Equine Therapy? Well, it's NOT about the horse! Nor is it about learning to ride horses. It IS about interacting with horses in ways that assist people in overcoming fear and self doubt while increasing personal awareness and self-understanding.
Horses are amazing reflectors of human emotion. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy involves simple and safe activities where human and horses meet in an arena set up to provide opportunities for healing, personal growth and even having fun!
